Could someone help me to gain access to my BIOS again? (SN# 5CD6151LQR)

I wanted to set a password to protect my data in HDD. In the process of HardDrive Lock it wanted me to set a BIOS password. I can't remember what I wrote for BIOS password. I remember the HDD pass so I can use the laptop but cannot go into BIOS.

Thanks

Dear Customer,

Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the

code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

  1. Please have a look at this link.

  1. Replace the BIOS chip

  1. Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

I contacted local HP service upon your suggestion. They provided SMC.BIN file and some instructions to apply and none of them worked. (Placing the file in D:HP_TOOLS or using a flash disk.)

Turning the laptop on while holding Windows + Up Arrow + Down Arrow does not make any difference. Is there anıy other method to use genuine SMC.BIN file?

Please try below steps :

Insert clean USB flash drive.

Then run USB Image tool.

Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE.

After restore remove flash drive.

Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot.”If HDD is installed remove before booting.”

At C:\OUTPUT   type CD..   “Then hit enter”

Type HPBR   “Then hit enter”

First thing is to save your settings.

Select #3 re-program.

Press “S” to save system information.

Type HPBR and hit enter.

Select   “FIRST RUN”

Then select model.

After reboot repeat same as above but this time SELECT “SECOND RUN”

Some instructions here. “If you cannot boot from USB there are instructions to make a bootable HDD.”

Thank you for the detailed instructions but unfortunately HPBR does not support my laptop (450 G3)

Can I use my official SMC.BIN file provided by HP to crack the password with the help of HPBR? Because I already have the required file but somehow my laptop does not respond to Windows + Up + Down combination.

Thanks.
