HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 (268T5AV)

Hello, I recently put a new SSD card into my computer, but it looks like the BIOS is corrupted as well. I've been trying to update BIOS from a USB through the hp support page, but it requires me to select an OS, which I don't have downloaded on the new SSD yet. I've tried a couple of the different options for my computer and various versions of Windows 10 or 11 and none are booting up on my computer when I try.

I found in the system information the the BIOS Revision is listed as F.01, is there anywhere I can find a download for this version of BIOS to create a USB?

Thanks

Hi @TLaptop1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering quite a hassle. When dealing with BIOS issues, it's crucial to proceed carefully to avoid further complications.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you address the problem:

Ensure the USB Drive is Prepared Properly:

  • Format the USB drive to FAT32.
  • Ensure that it's properly recognized by your computer.

Download BIOS Update:

  • Since your BIOS version is F.01, you'll need to find the exact BIOS update for your laptop model from HP's official support website.

Create a Bootable USB Drive:

  • Once you've downloaded the BIOS update file, follow the instructions provided by HP to create a bootable USB drive. HP usually provides specific instructions and tools for this purpose.
  • Make sure the BIOS update file is the only one on the USB drive and it's in the correct format.

Boot into BIOS/UEFI:

  • Insert the bootable USB drive into your laptop.
  • Restart your laptop and continuously press the BIOS key (usually Esc, F2, F10, or Del) during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.
  • In the BIOS/UEFI setup, navigate to the Boot menu and set the USB drive as the primary boot device.

Update BIOS:

  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI setup.
  • Your laptop should boot from the USB drive and initiate the BIOS update process automatically.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions carefully to complete the BIOS update.

Restart and Test:

  • Once the update is complete, restart your laptop and see if the BIOS issue is resolved.

Remember, updating BIOS carries some risk, so it's important to ensure that you're using the correct BIOS update for your specific laptop model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi, thank you for your response. Here are some of the issues that I am facing with these steps:

Download BIOS Update: the hp page to download requires me to indicate the OS along with the computer model to determine which update to download. Currently there is no OS downloaded on the new SSD that I put in (the old SSD had windows 11 but it is unusable).

Boot into BIOS/UEFI: in the setup page, it will not allow me to select USB Flash Drive/USB Hard Disk as the primary boot option in the boot order... USB Boot is enabled, and it will boot into windows install with a USB insert (it will not however download the OS to the SSD because the SSD is not visible when selecting where to save the OS to).

I thought it might work to try and update the BIOS with a bootable copy of F.01, but I can't find that anywhere... it's always F.76 or F.47 or something... Do you know if I can get a bootable copy of F.01 to try it? If not I'm not sure why the BIOS update usb is not working but the windows boot is...

Thanks
