Hi
I own a HP Pavilion 15-ec2004AX laptop. OS Windows 11 22H2 BIOS v - F27
Recently I have been facing black screen issue repeatedly. I tried to resolve it by updating AMD graphics driver but it didn't work. After lots of research and YT videos I narrowed down the issue as BIOS conflict with AMD graphics driver. I downloaded the previous version of bios F25 and tried to rollback bios but error. Not really sure why HP had blocked the bios rollback feature. i have already had a chat with the local HP service center but no joy
Does this issue have any alternate solution?

Hi @Sam_26,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to roll back the BIOS on your HP Pavilion 15-ec2004AX laptop due to the rollback feature being blocked, there are still a few options you can try to address the black screen issue:
1. BIOS Recovery
Some HP laptops have a built-in BIOS recovery feature. Try the following steps:
- Create a BIOS Recovery USB: Use another computer to create a BIOS recovery USB with the previous BIOS version (F25). Make sure it’s formatted as FAT32 and the BIOS file is in the root directory.
- Boot from USB: With the USB inserted, turn off your laptop. Then, hold down the Windows key + B and then press the power button. Keep holding the Windows + B keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
2. Reset BIOS to Defaults
- Access the BIOS during startup by pressing F10 (or the appropriate key for your laptop) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for an option to reset to factory defaults. This may help resolve conflicts.
3. Update Graphics Driver
- If you suspect a conflict with the AMD graphics driver, try reverting to an earlier version:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click on the AMD graphics driver, and select Properties.
- Under the Driver tab, see if the Roll Back Driver option is available.
4. Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
5. Use System Restore
- If System Restore is enabled, you can restore your system to a point before the BIOS update:
- Type System Restore in the Windows search bar and follow the prompts.
6. Reinstall Windows
- As a last resort, consider performing a clean installation of Windows. This can help eliminate software conflicts. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for sharing the details, however no joy with the proposed solutions ( details mentioned below)
1. BIOS Recovery- bios recovery usb with v F.25 getting this error
2. Reset BIOS to Defaults - did not resolve the conflict, the black screen remains (external monitor works)
3. Update Graphics Driver - graphics driver rollback did not work
4. Check for Windows Updates - windows update is pushing latest version of AMD graphics driver which is causing the laptop to overheat so paused the windows update for 4 weeks
5. Use System Restore- Successfully restored the system to date prior to bios update but the issue still remains and bios version did not change from v F.27
6. Reinstall Windows - did a clean reinstallation of Windows 11 22H2 but it did not resolve the conflict
