Hi @samsomaziz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the BIOS update on your HP Pavilion G6 notebook was interrupted, which can cause boot issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to try and recover your laptop.
Try the HP BIOS Recovery Method:
HP laptops have a built-in BIOS recovery method. Here’s how to use it:
Prepare a USB Drive:
- Format a USB Drive as FAT32 using a different working computer.
- Download the BIOS File:
- Go to HP's official website and download the latest BIOS version for your Pavilion G6 notebook. Look for a .exe file.
- Create BIOS Recovery USB:
- Copy the BIOS .exe file to the root directory of the USB drive.
Perform BIOS Recovery:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Insert the USB Drive into a USB port on the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows key and the B key simultaneously, then press the power button to start the laptop. Continue holding the keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
Follow the On-Screen Instructions:
- If successful, the BIOS recovery process should begin. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the recovery.
If the Above Method Doesn’t Work:
Try a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Remove the battery (if possible) and unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop again.
Clear CMOS:
- Sometimes, clearing the CMOS can help reset the BIOS settings. This typically involves opening the laptop and removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @samsomaziz,
Thank you for your response,
If your BIOS update fails and you're using a legacy BIOS (not UEFI), it’s generally okay to continue using legacy BIOS as long as your system functions properly and meets your needs. However, there are some points to consider.
- Security and Features: UEFI BIOS typically offers better security features and support for modern hardware. For instance, UEFI supports Secure Boot, which helps protect your system from malware and unauthorized changes.
- Compatibility: Some newer hardware and operating systems might require UEFI for optimal functionality or to access advanced features.
- Update Troubleshooting: If you’re experiencing issues with a BIOS update, it might be helpful to ensure you’re using the correct update file for your motherboard model and version. You might also want to check if there are specific update procedures or requirements.
- Fallback: If you’re experiencing issues after a failed BIOS update, you might need to restore the previous version or perform a recovery, depending on your motherboard's capabilities.
