The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 4-IN-1 USB KEY tool, when installed, creates a list of system board ID's and corresponding BIOS .bin files. According to the list, shown below, your board's correct bios file is 086C8.bin. Columns A, B and C in the list represent system board ID's, PC model numbers and binary prefixes of .bin files, respectively.
See the screen shot below. Evidently, PC 15-du0xxx and your laptop PC 15-dy1xxx share the same system board ID 86C9. The first screen shot above shows only PC 15-du0xxx for #86C9, but your correct bios file is still 086C8.bin.

I am having a similar problem. I have tried all of the bios updates for the model laptop and it will not except any of them from the software page in HP website. My board is also a 86c9 and I cannot update my bios at all.
