Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I downloaded and installed the SP91384 update from HP's website, attempting to update my BIOS to the latest firmware version. The updater completed successfully, as the log file below demonstrates. When done, it requests to reboot the machine in order to apply the BIOS firmware update. Yet, after reboot the BIOS firmware remains unchanged. To verify this, I used msinfo32.exe. The latter showed both before and after the update that I'm using BIOS version HP Q85 Ver. 01.01.07 from Oct 17, 2017.

How could I get the BIOS firmware installed?

Strange..maybe try again? I updated my bios last week and my version is now

BIOS-versie/datum    HP Q85 Ver. 01.03.00, 20-7-2018

Tried several times, but BIOS firmware was not updated after reboot. Looking at their install directory,

C:\SWSETUP\SP91384

There appear to be both 32-bit and 64-bit installers. I tried both, same results.

Based on this thread, I did the following:

Suspend BitLocker protection -->

                Reboot machine -->

                Esc to enter startup (boot) menu -->

                BIOS Setup (F10) -->

                Update system BIOS -->

                Network BIOS update (Check HP.com for BIOS updates)

After several reboots & BIOS installations it worked!        :Sunglasses:

WARNING: If active, BitLocker protection must be suspended (from Windows) before entering boot menu. Otherwise, you might have trouble accessing your data once firmware update is complete.

NOTE: The computer must have a wired internet connection in order to fetch updates from HP's website (no wireless during boot...).

However, the above method only brought my firmware up to version 1.02.04 (Jan 2018). Trying either HP's installer or the above method, I was not able to bring my computer to the latest firmware version 1.03.00 (August 2018). Any ideas?

You're at least one step further. I suggest to wait. If there are no problems Bios update shouldn't be necessary. I just followed the possibility to do so, with only a problem with the brightness keys. And to my surprise they now work as flawless as before...
