OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xd0000 (758R2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased a new HP Omen 16 Laptop. Then, I was updating the BIOS and drivers.

After updating the BIOS, I am not able to open BIOS during re-boot. It just gets blank and nothing else happens. However, if I try not to enter BIOS, the device works as usual and Windows boots.

What is this issue, and how can I resolve it. The BIOS update was done successfully. There was no failure.

Hi @AsishB,

If you're experiencing issues accessing the BIOS on your HP Omen 16 after a BIOS update, but the laptop boots into Windows normally, the issue may be related to the settings or the manner in which the BIOS update settled. Here’s what you can do to try and resolve it:

Steps to Access and Resolve BIOS Issues

  1. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Disconnect the power adapter.
    • Remove any external devices like USBs or peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual electricity.
    • Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop to see if you can access the BIOS.
  2. Clear CMOS:

    • This step requires you to access the internal components of your laptop, so proceed with caution.
    • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
    • Open the back cover of your laptop and remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes. This battery looks like a small coin.
    • Reinsert the CMOS battery, close the cover, and restart the laptop.
  3. Attempt to Access BIOS Again:

    • Restart your laptop and press the BIOS access key repeatedly (usually F10, Esc, or Delete depending on your HP model) as soon as the laptop starts booting. Do this to check if you can now enter the BIOS setup.
  4. Update BIOS Again or Reapply the Latest Version:

    • If the issue persists, consider reapplying the BIOS update. You can download the latest BIOS version for your laptop model from the HP support website.
    • Follow HP's official instructions carefully when updating or reapplying the BIOS to avoid any interruptions.
  5. Check System Configuration:

    • If your laptop supports it, try booting into the HP Diagnostics (by pressing F2 or F10 during startup) to check for hardware faults. If you manage to access it, run a full system test.
