BIOS password on HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation

HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation
Linux

Hello,

I bought the mentioned mobile workstation second hand with linux mint. I wanted to install windows, but bios is password protected and all boot options are disabled except the first/main hdd.

I pulled main battery and cmos battery, i get that cmos was rebooted, but bios password is still present it might be tpm module.

Is there any way to change or remove bios password.

Thank you

@Red0John

Unlike with desktops, removing the CMOS battery in laptops does NOT reset the BIOS password.

Sorry, we are no longer able to provide any assistance with password issues. The Community Policies changed this March such that we are now not permitted to assist customers with Admin or BIOS (i.e., Power On) password issues.

In fact, according to the Community's Rules of Participation (which you can read from here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/hp.rulespage😞

4d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.

For assistance NOW, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly as they will confirm ownership of the PC before providing any assistance -- something we are not able to do from here.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

Good Luck

Thank you for taking time to respond.

As far as i am concerned HP doesnt exist anymore...

I dont have any local support, so i contacted the USA one and they told me to contact one in my local region (which does not exist) so i contacted the UK and Ireland one and they were like "Hey you got a problem do not worry just buy a new one" and basicly they transfered me around and at the end they try to sell me varanty and told me again to contact local support, when i told them that local support does not exist they said sorry and DISCONNECTED chat.

So i learned that support is basically useless and i remembered why i havent bought HP product for over 10 years... Before poor decision.

I have the same problem. I phoned contact support, and i am told that they are no longer sending SMC.bin files, but replacing motherboard. Is that true? if so, it is very dissapointing.

Thanks
