HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My HP Spectre is dual-booting Windows 10 and Ubuntu 24.04.
After an update to Ubuntu 24.04 and a reboot, I get the following errors.

could not create moklistrt : volume full
could not create moklistxrt : volume full
could not create SbatLevelRT : volume full
could not create moklisttrustedRT : volume full
something has gone seriously wrong import_mok_state() failed : Volume full

It seems that a BIOS reset would be necessary first. I tried following your advice: Windows key + B + power button. Nothing happened.

Since I can't restart my computer, is there another way to reset the BIOS?
OR do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you

Hello Corinnespi,

Thank you for posting your concern,

If you're facing difficulties resetting the BIOS on your HP Spectre using the standard method (Windows key + B), there are alternative approaches you can try:

Alternative Methods to Reset the BIOS

  1. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off your HP Spectre.
    • Disconnect the AC adapter.
    • Remove any peripheral devices like USB drives or external monitors.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual energy.
    • Reconnect the AC adapter and power on the notebook.
  2. Access BIOS Setup Directly:

    • Turn on or restart your HP Spectre.
    • As soon as the HP logo appears, repeatedly press the F10 key until the BIOS Setup Utility launches.
    • Within the BIOS, look for options such as "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset to Default", which are typically found in the "Exit" or "Main" tab. Save changes and exit.
  3. Use HP Recovery Environment:

    • If your notebook supports it, you may be able to access a built-in recovery environment to reset or recover the BIOS. This is usually accessed by pressing F11 during startup.
  4. Update or Recover BIOS using USB:

    • If the above steps do not work, consider downloading the latest BIOS update from the HP Support site using another computer.
    • Create a BIOS recovery USB flash drive as mentioned in the HP documentation and follow the procedure for BIOS recovery using a USB drive.

If none of these methods resolve the issue, it might be indicative of a more complex hardware issue, and I would recommend contacting HP Support or visiting an authorized HP service center for further assistance.
