HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 17-cd1007nv
Microsoft Windows 11

I've tried to apply the latest BIOS update within Windows updates.

Notebook restarted, showed like it installed it and after several reboots it ended in a fail screen. After a few reboots, it finally started to apply the BIOS Update again and got stuck at Block 1/4096. It's about half an hour like that. Fans are fully working, I removed the external power, no usb plugged in and I still cannot shut it down, no matter how many seconds I held the power button. Tried from 10 to 40+ secs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

During the update process, the main problem was that I could NOT shut down the laptop, no matter how much time I was pressing the power button. I left it unplugged, until it drained the battery. Luckily the method with WINDOWS+V button worked and reinstalled the default BIOS successfully. After several restarts, it again picked the latest BIOS (42) and this time it got installed with success.

I suspect that the reason it failed, was due to unplugged power during the initial update. I removed power closing the network and the installation started automatically, without noticing it. Plugging again the power, didn't seem to work, no powering light on the laptop was on.

After the battery drain, connecting the power cord, it seemed to work again.

Thanks for the feedback.
