Hello,
I have a laptop HP 15-ac117na. The BIOS is at F.11. Recently I tried to upgrade BIOS to F.29 RevA dated Jun 21, 2019 available on support centre. I ran through the upgrade process without any issue. However when I get into BIOS, it's still showing F.11. I may also have got myself into some trouble after the upgrade as I cannot boot from memory stick anymore.
If I select "Setting, Window update" in windows 10, my laptop is not ready to upgrade to Windows 11, contrary to what it was before.
Also can you advise a WLAN card supporting 2.4 and 5 ghz wireless support, version 6 is even better.
Thank you
Kamran

Hi @KRKR,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are want to do BIOS update seemed successful but did not take effect, and you're experiencing boot issues with USB and potential compatibility changes for Windows 11, here are some steps to troubleshoot:
Re-run the BIOS Update as Administrator:
- Sometimes, running the update with elevated permissions can help if certain files did not apply correctly.
- Right-click on the BIOS update file and select "Run as administrator" to ensure it has full system access.
Check BIOS Update Requirements:
- Double-check the instructions in the BIOS update download page to ensure no additional steps were missed (e.g., disabling certain security features or settings).
Restore BIOS to Default Settings:
- Enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 at startup) and restore it to factory settings. This can sometimes resolve any issues caused by settings being altered during the update attempt.
Use HP Support Assistant or HP Diagnostics: HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- HP's tools can verify if your system recognizes the BIOS update and can suggest a reinstallation or troubleshooting steps if issues were detected.
Creating a Bootable USB Drive:
- Re-create the bootable USB using a different method (such as Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool) to ensure the issue isn't with the USB itself.
Refer to this document: HP notebook - 15-ac117na (ENERGY STAR) User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
