Pavilion 14m-dw0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. Recently my x360 14m-dw0013dx died. After fully charging, the power light comes on solid for 5 seconds, then off for about 20 seconds, then on for 5 - over and over again indefinitely.

I've already tried re-seatting the RAM, Battery, m.2 SSD, all internal connections, etc with no luck.

I'm assuming the BIOS is corrupted, or the motherboard is dead.

I am trying to create a BIOS recovery flash drive to attempt BIOS recovery, but the BIOS update tools on the HP Support page do not open. I have tried on 3 different PC's and the BIOS_Updater.exe fails to launch.  I have tried all "previous versions" of the BIOS update utility, but none launch.

Is there any way I can get the BIOS  BIN file by itself, or a zipped copy of the BIOS and other files to create a flash drive?

Thanks!

@Collinormous

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Firstly, remove the hard drive from the computer.
  • Once the hard drive is removed turn on the computer without the hard drive- While booting as the computer doesn’t detect a hard drive so it’ll automatically roll back to the previous bios.
  • Put the HDD back in and turn it ON. It might give an error about the improper shutdown. Just click continue and it should boot to windows.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I followed the procedures and still nothing. Just solid power light for 5 seconds, off for 5 seconds, and repeating until the battery is drained.
