@CHRIS202525, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP ProBook 640 G5 Notebook PC (5PF23AV).

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

The behavior where your HP ProBook 640 G5 Notebook PC stops charging at 94% is generally related to battery health management settings designed to optimize battery lifespan. Here's what you can do to address the issue:

HP Battery Health Manager

HP provides a feature called Battery Health Manager in the BIOS that can affect how your battery charges to prevent unnecessary charging cycles, which prolongs the life of the battery. This is typically why charging might stop at a certain percentage, such as 94%.

Steps to Check and Configure Battery Health Manager:

  1. Enter the BIOS Setup:

    • Restart the laptop and press the "F10" key repeatedly until the BIOS menu appears.
  2. Access Battery Health Manager:

    • Navigate to the Power or Advanced tab using the arrow keys.
    • Look for a setting related to Battery Health Manager.
  3. Configure the Battery Options:

    • Let HP Manage My Battery Health: Balances battery life runtime and health.
    • Maximize Battery Health: Limits the maximum charge, which might stop the battery from charging below 100%.
    • Minimize Battery Health: Allows charging to full capacity, which might be desirable if you want it to charge to 100%.
  4. Save and Exit:

    • After selecting your preferred option, save changes and exit the BIOS.

General Tips

  • Update BIOS: Ensure your laptop's BIOS is up to date, as updates often include fixes and optimizations related to hardware management.

  • Check Adapter and Connections: Confirm that the power adapter and connections are secure. Try using a different charger if available, to rule out faults in the charging cable or adapter.

  • Battery Diagnostics: Use HP's PC Hardware Diagnostics to test battery health and performance.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
