Hello,

my battery will not charge, it has failed the diagnostics.

FAILURE ID : M4G4GJ-72C8TA-XD7V6J-C08P03

PRODUCT ID:  G5F93EA#ABD

I could find simillar themes here in the forum but not with the same failure ID. Should I buy a new battery or is there a way to repare it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi! @antalke, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have battery issues with your laptop.

Don't worry I'll to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Have you tried charging your laptop using a different adapter?

As you mentioned when you run a battery test on your PC it failed with a failure ID.

If Primary (internal) Battery (601) appears in the alert message, it means the measured storage capacity of the primary (internal) battery is less than 25% of the original storage capacity. The number “601” denotes the associated error code that is recorded in the system log.

Try updating the BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

You can update the BIOS using HP support assistant and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get reinstalled automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
Step 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps it is certainly a battery issue with your laptop.
