So I have encountered extremely shortened battery life on my laptop in the past and got a message saying my battery needs to be replaced urgently when I booted up my laptop, but then it stops working all together. I replaced the battery today and the laptop booted up, said repairing disk errors, and I just left and waited for it to be done but when i came back over an hour later, the laptop was off so i assumed it was done (keep in mind, the laptop was plugged in the entire time but the light wasnt lit when it was charging like it usually does. When i press the power button, the charging light indicator blinks/flashes orange 3 times. I am furious that my laptop still wont work, even with this new battery. Please help asap, as i need to use the laptop urgently!

@Ameer_76,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,

Are you able to boot the computer just with the AC adapter plugged in?

Have you tried to use a different compatible charger and check if it helps?

Let's try these steps here:

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the notebook

Before power resetting your computer, do the following:

  1. Disconnect or remove all peripheral devices. Start up the laptop and test the computer by itself, and then reconnect one peripheral device at a time.

  2. Turn over the computer and look for a battery compartment door.

If the issue still persists, I would personally suggest this could be a possible hardware failure. I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.

HP support team can be reached on www.hp.com/contacthp

Select the product type.

Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

Select the country from the drop-down.

You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
