HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook -
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've owned a HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook -15-ak025tx for about a year. When gaming, I am not able to charge the laptop. It will only charge about 5minutes and the charging will stop.

Any idea what is causing this?

Greetings @Starzap

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are facing an issue where the battery is not charging while playing games, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Have you run a diagnostics on your computer?

Have you tried to update all the drivers using HP Support Assistant?

Recommend you run HP Support Assistant on your computer to make sure all the drivers are updated, especially BIOS and chipset. Click here to know more about HPSA.

Once all the drivers are updated, please install UEFI diagnostics from this link

Make sure all the Windows updates are installed.

Shut down the computer after installing UEFI diagnostics.

Wait for a minute.

Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup to enter system diagnostics.

Select the component test and run a battery test on your computer.

If the battery test fails, please replace the battery or contact our phone support for any service options available.

If the battery test passes, restart your computer.

Open device manager by doing a right-click on the Windows button.

Uninstall the battery controllers (you might see multiple of them listed.)

Delete the driver when prompted during uninstallation of the driver.

Restart the computer couple times.

Let me know if this resolved the issue you are facing. Good Luck.

Hi,

I have done the  UEFI diagnostic. The battery and AC all passed the test.

I have tried the HP Support Assistant too and all the drivers are updated.

Battery drivers have been reinstalled also but the battery charging still randomly stops only when gaming.

Thanks for the reply, looks like the issue could be with the power adapter, recommend you contact our phone support for assistance.

Keep me posted. Good Luck.
