HP Recommended

On boot up I get a message that states my laptop does not have a HP battery, but it does because I have made no changes to the battery since purchasing the laptop a year ago - it was a new laptop.  Possibly related, the battery is gradually losing life even though my PC is always connected to the mains.  Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Update:  Issue seems sorted via hard reset.
