This is a repost because I had no solution to my problem for weeks

 

Greetings,

 

  I am having trouble accessing the BIOS setup of my PC. Tried the CMOS battery method but it didn't work and a default password was set. I believe it has to do with the one it was manufactured with.

 

Contact support seems inexisting

 so anyone help, please.

 

I really need to access the bios to add booting from flash as I want a Linux distro installed.

Hi:

 

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

 

That was the only way it could be done.
