My motherboard of the hp15-da1041tu has been changed recently. While turning on the laptop, it shows " manufacturing programming mode is in unlock mode" after this it shows "checking media fail (2 times)" then my system starts. How to solve this problem. Is this a big issue?

HI @Rohit1998,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The message you're seeing, "manufacturing programming mode is in unlock mode," combined with "checking media fail" errors, suggests a couple of potential issues with your HP laptop, particularly after a motherboard replacement. Here’s how you can address these issues:

1. Understanding the Messages

Manufacturing Programming Mode: This typically indicates that the BIOS or firmware on the new motherboard is in a state intended for manufacturers, not end users. It’s possible that the BIOS settings or firmware are not correctly configured for normal use.

Checking Media Fail: This usually means that the system is having trouble detecting the boot media (e.g., hard drive or SSD) or that the boot configuration is not set up correctly.

2. Steps to Resolve the Issue

1. Check BIOS Settings

Enter BIOS/UEFI Setup:

  1. Restart your laptop and press the BIOS key during startup (usually F2, F10, F12, or Esc).
  2. Navigate to the Boot tab.

Check Boot Order:

  1. Ensure that your primary boot device (e.g., SSD or HDD) is listed as the first boot option.
  2. If it’s not detected, ensure the drive is properly connected and recognized by the BIOS.

Reset BIOS to Default:

  1. Look for an option to Load Default Settings or Restore Defaults.
  2. Save the changes and exit.

2. Reconfigure or Update BIOS

Check for BIOS Update:

  1. Visit the HP Support website and look for BIOS updates for your laptop model.
  2. Follow HP’s instructions for updating the BIOS. Be cautious and ensure you’re downloading the correct version for your specific model.

Reflash BIOS/Firmware:

  1. If the BIOS update does not resolve the issue, you may need to reflash the BIOS to ensure it’s correctly configured. Follow the instructions provided by HP for reflashing the BIOS.

3. Check Hard Drive/SSD Connections

  • Recheck Physical Connections:
    1. Power off your laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
    2. Open the laptop and check if the hard drive or SSD is properly connected to the motherboard.
    3. Reconnect any cables or components if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
