Hello anyone willing to read my post. I was asked to diagnose and fix a clients HP Pavilion 15-eg0025nr laptop that will not boot. It displays 1 code of 2 white short blinks from the capslock that as I read is a corrupted bios. I have watched the videos detailing how to have the computer recover from the last known version or from a flash drive using the windows+B key while pressing the power button 1-3 seconds combo but nothing happens after repeated attempts at trying different lengths of button pushing. Does this laptop not have the function of updating the BIOS? Thanks for any replies on this issue.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Pavilion 15-eg0025nr laptopcaps locks blinking  Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

Hello thank you for your reply about my issue.  I attempted all steps you have instructed me to perform thrice before advancing to the next step and still I get no screen activity no beeps just the same single 2 white short blinks from the capslock button and a second of the internal fan spinning up then it shuts off.

I was hoping to learn about what was wrong with this computer in a public setting not to pay for advanced support just because this computer is 1 month out of warranty.  It's a cheaper laptop and the value in paid support at this point will probably outweigh the cost of just buying a new laptop with planned obsolescence. I do thank you for providing me with the most basic of HP support.

Hi @KarmicTales,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's BIOS is corrupted and you're experiencing issues with failed BIOS update attempts, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and AC adapter.
  • Turn on the laptop and check if the issue persists.

Reset CMOS:

  • To reset the CMOS settings, you might need to open up your laptop and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Disconnect it for a few minutes and then reconnect it. This will reset the BIOS settings to default.

Update BIOS Using USB Flash Drive:

  • If your laptop supports it, you might be able to update the BIOS using a USB flash drive. Visit the official HP website, download the latest BIOS update for your laptop model, and follow the instructions provided to create a bootable USB drive and update the BIOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi thanks for the response I have tried both the hard reset and the bios update using a USB flash drive which did not resolve the issue I opened the laptop in hopes the CMOS battery was an easy remove but it is not. When I get some extra time I will attempt at removing it and see if that resolves the issue and respond with my results.

Hi sorry for the delay in reply. I opened the laptop further to locate the CMOS battery but this board a DA0G7HMB8H0 REV: H doesn't seem to have a CMOS battery as I am use to seeing.
