Hi @JChris3 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion G4 2306tx after changing the hard drive and updating the BIOS. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
  • Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  • Turn on the laptop.

BIOS Recovery:

  • Ensure that the BIOS update file is correct and compatible with your laptop model.
  • Download the latest BIOS update from the official HP website if available.
  • Follow the HP instructions for BIOS recovery carefully.

Rollback BIOS:

  • If you suspect that the BIOS update is causing the issue, you may try rolling back to the previous version.
  • Download the previous BIOS version from the HP website.
  • Follow the instructions to install the older BIOS version.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you have a system restore point created before the BIOS update, you can use it to revert your system to a previous state.
  • Press the Windows key, type "Create a restore point," and select the corresponding option.
  • In the System Properties window, click on the "System Restore" button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure that the new hard drive is properly connected.
  • Reseat the RAM and other components to ensure they are properly seated.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
