Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I was installing Linux on a different partition of the one where I have Windows 10. At the end of the installation when rebooting I get the error: boot device not found. I run a quick hard disk check and it passes. I try to get to BIOS to fix the issue but a password  is required, when I attempt 3 times to enter the password and get the code I can use to recover a BIOS password it just tells me "system locked" and no code is displayed. I can turn off the laptop and restart all this again.

Btw my laptop has internal battery  so getting into the hardware would be a bit messy.

Any suggestions?

I'm really sorry that we can not help you with this, but Community policy prohibits us from assisting you in any way with bypassing or resetting passwords.

For BIOS or power-on password resets, read this HP thread: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard for BIOS password resets, you could take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we are unable to assist in that.

Thank-you for responding.  Is there an alternative to fixing the laptop  and getting it to boot without the BIOS password?

Sorry -- NO -- the BIOS password is encoded into firmware of the motherboard and is independent of Windows, so there is no way around it, and if there was, there would be no value to having such passwords.
