I was going to get this laptop up and running for my friend and do some minor upgrades, but when I booted up the computer to do a first look, the CMOS check was invalid. Likely cause of a bad bios setting. ( I havent done any upgrading the emmc flash to ssd and or adding ram yet) So I rebooted pressed escape to get to the bios and was greeted with a friendly password screen. I knew the drill so I called my buddy real quick for the password. Shocker but he didnt know it. So I knew I'd get a checksum if I entered the wrong code in 3x did so and wrote the code down.
It was A77F1743 (2 didgets short for hp right?)
And I went to the usual spot online to a generator. The generator keeps sitting out fijitsuu or whatever codes. I tried it non the less and it was wrong. This time entering it in wrong 3x I got this code
6CC97C92
both passwords looked like this in the box
A [XXXXXXXX]
I rebooted and entered in the new password from the checksum calc and shockingly it was still off. Wrong and locking me out. So I decided to try the serial number. Turns out it was a 10 digit number/letter combo that this site recognized it was an hp brand and it gave me a code all lower case letters. I thought for sure it was going to work this time, but I was wrong. I got denied from the system again.
This is where I realized I shouldve tried this before going into the bios, I thought of the hp setup and repair utility. I went to reboot and go ahead without pressing escape so I wouldnt get the bios prompt, to press f10 for setup. But I was greeted with the password for administrator to power on the device. Great haha, I'm now locked out without a way to test other things to fix the cmos check fail. I have to figure out this passcode or the laptop is good as junk.
Any ideas anyone? Could really use some help. I'm no rookie with bios but before I go monkeying around with things I usually dont I'm hoping someone else already has the solution. Please?
It's a notebook 14-cm0012nr
If you want or need the passcode I got from hashing the SN:\ I can get that for you and post it here. I know my way around a laptop so feel free to hit me with anything that might work.
