Product: HP Dev One
Good Afternoon
I figured it out finally after a few trial and errors, and I've successfully completed this task once.
However now im having some trouble. When updating firmware to the new uefi dbx 20241101 update using fedora, it corrupts my bios.
Support has already helped me a few times, but they dont know that the uefi firmware upgrade is whats causing the corruption yet. Like I did before, using the file provided by one of the HP ftp servers from support, I follow these steps:
Download and unzip the HP.rar file
- Format an unused 8GB minimum flash drive as FAT32
- Rename the flash drive to HP_TOOLS
- Copy the entire HP folder into the flash drive. Make sure the root directory is HP_TOOLS/HP, not HP_TOOLS/HP/HP
- Plug the flash drive into the failing unit
- Plug in AC adapter
- Hold super + B then press power button, continue to hold super + B for 10 seconds and release
These steps have been followed and worked before but my little workhorse of an hp dev one doesnt seem to like the file, my usb just blinks and my screen stays backlit but only black. When I try to recover without the USB however, it tells me about the bios corruption. I remember finding a support article somewhere that had one more step with a different button press, (yes I tried super+B and super+V) but I cant find it anywhere. I need some help to get this laptop back on track, what do you guys think?
Thank you very much for your time and attention.
