@cmtede3122, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding BitLocker issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I'm really sorry to hear you're going through this — I know how frustrating it can be to be without your laptop. Let’s try to get this sorted out together.

Just to better understand your situation:

Were there any recent updates, repairs, or motherboard replacements done on your laptop?

Do you happen to have your BitLocker recovery key saved somewhere (like your Microsoft account, USB drive, or printed copy)?

When you turn on the laptop, does it ask directly for the recovery key, or is there an error message first?

I'll be here to help you through the next steps!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,

Thumb drive has all the info but cannot get past the repair to get to safe mode for the commands, to correct the Win11 update

@cmtede3122, Thanks for the update — I totally get how stuck you must feel right now. Since you have the recovery key on the thumb drive, that’s great news — we just need to get past the recovery screen.

If the laptop isn’t letting you boot into Safe Mode, try this:

On the BitLocker screen, press Esc to see recovery options (if available).

If that doesn’t work, you may need to create a Windows 11 installation media on another PC using the Media Creation Tool, then boot from it and choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt.

From there, you might be able to unlock the drive using your recovery key.

Let me know if you need steps on that — I’ll walk you through it!

Take care,

ZOEY7886
