In my case, I upgraded to Windows 11 on Tues evening. On Weds, the laptop ran fine. However, when I turned it on Thurs morning, the BIOS began to do an update on its ow, immediately followed by the BitLocker Recovery screen. I had absolutely no idea what the BitLocker was. Microsoft never mentioned it with regard to the upgrade. More important, Microsoft never gave a warning to store the BitLocker Recovery Key anywhere. Consequently, going to my MIcrosoft account found no recovery key.

I have spent yesterday and today with Microsoft support trying to do a system restart of my laptop (luckily, I backed up all of my files prior to doing the Windows 11 upgrade). However, despite several attempts, I cannot do a systems restart of my laptop. The computer cannot find any drives to load the Windows software to.

Microsoft is telling me that it has to do with HP's TPM module that protects the laptop.

So right now, I have a non-working HP laptop in need of doing a full systems restart, but I can't access any drives to load the Windows software to because supposedly the TPM module has locked the computer due to the BitLocker issue.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
