My HP Spectre Laptop came with Win10 already loaded. Therefore, surely it is HP who would have this Bitlocker Recovery Key?
HP provides recovery software but using it would mean a complete re-install thus, losing all files on the system.
HP should be able to provide me with that key.
To contact HP with an out-of-warranty machine requires paying for a support package. This piece of information is not part of the original warranty and should be available to the customer.
I want to run in Safe Mode but I understand that restarting Windows after Safe Mode MAY require a BitLocker Recovery Key. I cannot take that risk under the nebulous MAY REQUIRE.
Any ideas how to get this key from HP?

You're right, it would be a Pandora's box. One can imagine that if my scenario is correct, HP, Dell, etc, who preload Windows into their OE machines must have (should have) saved the Bitlocker key at the source. They would provide keys in the TPM for the end user to use for recovery. Sadly, you can't sniff the Bitlocker key from the TPM. I fear that means full recovery and loss of data.
I have a boot USB that was made during the original setup process for the laptop, but wonder if this is the adequate answer to my question. Again, after closing out Safe Mode and then rebooting with a boot USB will it still ask for the Bitlocker key? Cannot take that risk. I wonder how AI would solve an imponderable.
