Hi @Rkej279

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your laptop is unable to detect the operating system, which could be due to a corrupted boot sector, a failed hard drive, or incorrect BIOS settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

1. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Navigate to Boot Options and ensure the correct boot device (your hard drive) is selected.
  • If the hard drive is missing, it may indicate a hardware failure.

2. Run Startup Repair

  • If you have a Windows installation USB, insert it and boot from it.
  • Select Repair your computerTroubleshootAdvanced optionsStartup Repair.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.

4. Check Hard Drive Health

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F2 for System Diagnostics.
  • Run a hard drive test to check for errors.

5. Reinstall Windows (if necessary)

  • If the hard drive is functional but the OS is missing, you may need to reinstall Windows.
  • Use a Windows installation USB to perform a clean installation.

Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to assist further!
