I have an HP 15-bs162 laptop, Windows 11 x64. After installing bios F.75 Rev.A, I got a black screen, but Windows sometimes boots. The help says that due to the security updates installed with this BIOS update, previous BIOS versions cannot be reinstalled after running this BIOS update.
In this case, how do I install bios F.70 Rev.A, where there was no black screen?

For my problem, I need an HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI with the Firmware Management function (to find out the bin number and to boot another bios). Where can I download it? In version 10.7.0.0 (sp155054.exe with support.hp.com ) there is no such function.

I installed HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI 7.6.2.0 Rev.A, started bios downgrade, but the process fails:
- Failed Reading BIOS Signature File \HP\BIOS\Current\08445.s12
- New Bios Verify Signature Return Result not handled (Not Found)
- Verify Image signature: Bios Verify Signature Not Succeed (Not Found)
- EfiBiosUpdateLibEntry(): Result is 0x3
There really is no 08445.s12 file, but there is 08445.sig. What should I do next?

When windows is rebooted and in sleep mode, BIOS works, but after windows is turned off, a black screen appears, after 10-15 turns on, windows can boot. Someone help me, please.

I managed to downgrade the bios version F.75 Rev.A to F.70 Rev.A, but this did not solve the problem of the black screen. This means that the black screen problem was not related to the bios update. It's a pity that no one answered me.

Hi @Ishukov ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're unable to revert to a previous BIOS version due to the security updates in BIOS F.75 Rev.A, there are still a few possible steps to try in order to install BIOS F.70 Rev.A:

Check if Downgrading is Blocked: Some BIOS updates (like F.75) include features that prevent downgrading to older versions for security reasons. However, it may still be possible to bypass this.

Use BIOS Recovery Mode: HP laptops often have a recovery method for BIOS in case of issues like black screens. To recover or reinstall an older BIOS version:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + B key.
  • While holding the keys, press and release the power button.
  • Keep holding the Windows key + B until you hear a series of beeps or see a BIOS recovery screen appear.
  • If the recovery screen appears, follow the instructions to either restore the BIOS or install an older version of BIOS if it is available on the system.

Use USB Flash Drive for BIOS Downgrade:

  • Download BIOS F.70 Rev.A from the HP support page for your model.
  • Copy the BIOS file to a USB drive formatted with FAT32.
  • With the laptop powered off, plug the USB drive into the laptop.
  • Follow the BIOS recovery method, which can be initiated by pressing Windows key + B as mentioned above, or refer to your laptop's manual for the exact recovery key combination.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I tried to install the BIOS version F.70 Rev.A using Windows+B from USB, the reading started, but the screen remained black. I used the same USB HP_TOOLS with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI 7.6.2.0 Rev.A, the error of which is indicated above. In my opinion, the HP manufacturer needs to take care of its consumers and give the opportunity to downgrade the BIOS version, which is currently blocked.
