Hi all!
Yesterday I've tried to manually update BIOS offered by HP Assistant.
Type: B IOS
Version: F.75 Rev.A
Operating systems:
Windows 10 (64-bit)
Release date: May 17, 2024
File name: sp153030.exe
After that laptop is unable to start normally. Power led is on, I hear that fans work, but screen is blank.
Tried to reset power by take the battery off, CMOS battery removed, and recover with Win+B, Win+V pressed during startup - no result. Also same key combos using a new BIOS recovery USB created this morning. Absolutely nothing.
Dear HP, how this issue can be resolved? Please assist URGENTLY.

Hi @itu786,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re experiencing a black screen after manually updating your BIOS, here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Step 1: Perform a Power Reset
- Turn Off the Laptop:
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Drain Residual Power:
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect and Restart:
- Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and power adapter, then turn the laptop back on.
Step 2: Reset BIOS Settings
If the laptop has a reset jumper or a way to reset the BIOS:
- Locate the Reset Jumper (if applicable):
- Refer to your laptop's service manual to find the reset jumper.
- Reset BIOS:
- Follow the instructions for resetting the BIOS, which usually involves shorting the jumper for a few seconds.
Step 3: Reinstall the Old BIOS
Create a BIOS Recovery USB:
- If your laptop supports BIOS recovery via USB, create a bootable USB with the previous version of the BIOS. You can download the older BIOS from the manufacturer’s website.
Boot from USB:
- Insert the USB drive and turn on the laptop while pressing the appropriate key (often F2, F10, or Esc) to access the boot menu and select the USB drive.
Follow Recovery Instructions:
- Follow on-screen instructions to reinstall the previous BIOS version.
Step 4: Check Hardware Connections
- Check RAM and HDD Connections:
- If comfortable, open the laptop and ensure that the RAM and hard drive connections are secure. Reseat them if necessary.
Step 5: Connect an External Display
- Test with an External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the laptop screen.
Step 6: Boot in Safe Mode
- Access Safe Mode:
- If the system attempts to boot, press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup to access the Advanced Boot Options.
- Select Safe Mode and see if the laptop boots into Windows.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
