HP Pavilion - 15-cw1095nr

I have an older laptop, but it’s an HP Pavillion. I put it charging it last night (the charging indicator light is telling me it’s fully charged) so I could have it ready for today. Well, I pressed the power button and it shines white (2 seconds) like it is coming on but then the light disappears and nothing happens. I don’t hear any noises or see any blinking lights. Screen stays black.

Hi @Rene83,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Pavilion laptop not turning on properly. There could be various reasons for this problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect any peripherals or external devices.
  • Remove the battery (if removable) and unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the power adapter.
  • Try turning on the laptop.

Check Power Source:

  • Make sure the power outlet is functioning, and the power adapter is working properly.
  • Try using a different power outlet or power adapter if possible.

External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the appropriate cable.
  • If the external display works, there might be an issue with the laptop's internal display.

Memory Modules:

  • If you're comfortable doing so, try reseating the RAM modules. Ensure they are securely seated in their slots.

Boot in Safe Mode:

  • If the laptop turns on, but the screen stays black, try booting into Safe Mode. This can help identify if a third-party application or driver is causing the issue.

System Diagnostics:

  • Some HP laptops have built-in diagnostics tools. You can usually access them by pressing a specific key during startup (often ESC or F2). Run a diagnostic test to check for hardware issues.

Keep in mind that these are general suggestions, and the specific steps may vary based on your laptop model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
