When I boot up my laptop it just shows a black screen and when I pressed something, ‘Esc…Pause Startup’ popped up. It is clearly on and working but i can’t figure it out. Model: 15-ay041wm
ive tried taking out the battery and unplugging it, then holding the power button for 15secs and trying again. But no luck

Hi Joey0z
Reset the CMOS
In some cases, the automatic BIOS recovery fails because the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) data is corrupted. The CMOS stores BIOS settings. Use this procedure to reset the CMOS and recover the BIOS.
Turn off the computer.
Press and hold the Windows + V keys, and then simultaneously press and hold the power button. After 2 to 3 seconds, continue to press and hold the Windows + V keys, but release the power button.
When the CMOS Reset screen displays or you hear beeping sounds, release the Windows + V keys.
At the completion of a successful CMOS Reset, a message similar to the following one is displayed.
Press enter to restart the computer.
If this does not recover your computer, see Recover the BIOS
Or in that case please follow the instructions in the following guide:

None of that worked, I still just get this black screen with white text on the bottom left when I press any FN key or ESC so I know it works. So I tried to flash the bios with a usb stick and it popped up a message saying something about the battery being low I’m pretty sure. Idk it went by fast but I know it was something to do with the battery. So I’m assuming I should buy a new battery?

Hi Joey0z
Hello, it could be that the battery that is giving you problems is the RTC, try changing it, you can search for it with the following part number: RTC battery 760828-001
I hope the above is helpful

That seems to have helped, I got a screen that said “cmos checksum invalid”but it popped this up now and then when I rebooted it, it went back to doing what it was doing before.
