@MiaDee, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is showing a black screen even after running diagnostics, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any residual power and resets hardware connections.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect only the power adapter and try turning it on.

Check Display Output

Sometimes the laptop might be trying to use an external display.

  • Press Windows key + P multiple times to cycle through display modes.
  • Try pressing F4 or Fn + F4 (depending on your model) to switch displays.

Boot into Safe Mode

If the screen is black but the system seems to be running (e.g., fans spinning, lights on):

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly (or F11) to access recovery options.
  • Choose Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart, then select Safe Mode.

If Safe Mode works, the issue may be with graphics drivers.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

If you can access Safe Mode or external display:

  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics driver and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart the laptop and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.

You can also download the latest drivers from HP Software and Driver Downloads.

BIOS Recovery

If the screen is completely black and there's no sign of booting:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold Windows key + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait for the BIOS recovery screen.

External Monitor Test

Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV via HDMI or DisplayPort. If the external display works, the issue may be with the laptop’s internal screen or display cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
