Hi
Im stuck with black screen at boot.
I have tried all hard reset procedures and ESC, F10, win+B and win+v, removed CMOS battery no sucess. Have also tried with bootable USBs.
My speakers doesnt work so I cant listen after beeps, only indication is that the Wi-Fi button is orange.
But the laptop starts in 1 of 50-100 attempts and when it does everything works fine.
And clues?

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.
NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:-

Hi
So now we try desperate measures.
This will not work for everyone, but you may be lucky?
HP Notebooks and Mobile Workstations -
No Power, No Boot, No Display When Power Button Is Pressed
NOTE: Be sure the battery is installed in the computer and it has sufficient power before continuing. Due to the design of the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller, the power supply must be disconnected and the computer must be powered with battery power to reset the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller.
Unplug the AC power from the computer.
Press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds.
Release the power button (after at least 12 seconds).
The computer will power on and should boot normally after releasing the power button.
Re-connect the AC power to the computer.
NOTE: In case the battery is not charging after performing the steps to reset the Embedded Controller, unplug and re-plug in the AC power again.

It had an F11 Recovery Partition, is that still valid?

Hi
I tried that same result.. black screen after pressing down power on button immediataly
One more symptom is that when I removed the power cable is that the laptop started by itself. That is a common sympton now.. self start ups without pressing power on to stop that I have to remove battery and power cable.

Hi
I still don't get whether you can use the ESC at startup.
If so try SAFE MODE, or Linux Mint on USB.
Take Microsoft out of the equation, leaving HP and Mint.
If the problems are common to both OS's then it is a Hardware fault.
