@SasirekhaR, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding black screen issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop screen goes black while the keyboard still works. No worries—let's try a few troubleshooting steps to get it back up and running:

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off your laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (USBs, chargers, etc.).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  4. Reconnect the charger and turn the laptop back on.

Check the Display

  • Try pressing Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B at the same time. This refreshes the graphics driver and may bring the display back.
  • If you hear sounds or see the keyboard lights responding but the screen is still black, try connecting your laptop to an external monitor (using HDMI or VGA). If the external monitor works, the issue could be with your laptop’s display.

Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Turn off the laptop and turn it back on.
  2. As soon as it powers on, keep pressing F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly to enter Safe Mode.
  3. If the display works in Safe Mode, the issue might be with the graphics driver. You can update or reinstall it.

Let me know if any of these steps help! Also, could you share your HP laptop model? That way, I can provide more specific troubleshooting steps. 😊

Looking forward to your update!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
