Pavilion dv4 2016la
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

When I turn on the laptop, the screen remains blank and after about 20-30 seconds the mayus and desp leds start to blink every 3 seconds and keep on blinking unless I turn off the notebook. I had this problem a few times before with the same symptoms but I used to solve it by performing a hard reset. This time that just wont do. I've tried cheking with another screen and I get nothing, also tried checking the memory modules and the hard drive connections and they are just fine. Also tried pressing the windows + B + on button to update the BIOS but it does not work either.

I have this HP since 2010 and It always has worked perfectly. Just about a year ago I had to replace the screen 'cause it was damaged form a fall.

I someone could provide some help on this matter I would be very thankful.

ps: Excuse my bad grammar but English is not my native language.

Thanks. In the end, following the steps on another similar question on this forum, I could solve it.

Also, the "toubleshooting" didnt work for me as I just said in my question (hard reset, check with another screen, check hardware conections, etc.).

For anyone with the same problem, what did it was making shure the processor was firmly installed. When I checked one screw was a little loose, so I screwd it and that solved the issue.

@Azbeltk,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are getting a blank screen with blinking LEDs on your HP Pavilion dv4-2016la Entertainment Notebook PC.

This issue could occur if the graphics card on the motherboard is damaged.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.

If the issue persists, then you may need to contact HP phone support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp
