I have read through all other articles and attempted resolution. Replaced fan due to suspected overheating. reseated memory cards, battery is fixed in place but attempted to run without battery anyway. Unable to run diagnostics or view through external monitor. Laptop turns on, fan operates, SD light blinks occasionally, Caps lock blinks 3 slow,2 fast.

What do I need to replace?

Memory problem, try the suggestions for the 3 - 2 if you have not done that yet.

What caused the problem in the first place?
Power glitch? Upgrade to windows 11?
Microsoft or HP update? Add a new device, memory, etc?
BIOS upgrade that went wrong?

Not sure what the root cause was. The laptop was getting very hot and slow, then went blank. I replaced the fan. No changes to the operating system were made.

Search through YouTube for a disassembly video and see if you can spot a problem such as a cable not connected securely.

Something went wrong when you reassembled the system.  Use an air duster to remove any loose debris.

Remove both memory and just put one of them back in.  Try  another socket. then try the other memory stick the same way.
