Envy TouchScreen will not boot. Removing memory will cause blinking caps lock 3 times. Replace memory and I am faced with a dark screen. Fan works and processor is warm so I figure CPU is working. Replaced BIOS battery nochange. Can I put a alternate monitor. I assume if back light is off I would have a blank screen. Are there other possibilities? Same problem as Akash94.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the computer was working fine?
- What is the exact model for your computer?
- WHat is the operating system you are using?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
Look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day!
Take care.
Cheers!

The computer failed about 8 weeks ago while I was using it. The screen was functioning at the time until it went blank. It is an HP ENVY touch screen 15" with a finger print detection. Operating system was WIN8 but microsoft upgraded to WIN10. The external power supply connector broke and I had to replace the internal wire with female connector to the motherboard. Prior to that I would get plugged in and not charging. At the same time the hinge on right side was very stiff and the plastic metal fastening failed. I replaced with 4-40 screws flat head type so as not to damage touch screen. This repair was in place and the unit worked for several months. The battery now does charge.
An update, I removed the memory and got the blinking light. When I replaced the memory, the cap light no longer blinks. The red light on WIFI buttton is on. After about 2 minutes the computer shuts down. In the past messages would appear on screen like alternate boot or no operating system.

I read the quick response and welcome back again. Your brilliant efforts and technical abilities are greatly appreciated. Kudos to you for that.
Please try these steps for now.
Please try all the relevant instructions from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-10-x2-PC/7439381/model/7468031/document/c02693833
(HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)
Perform all the relevant methods and check if it fixes the issue. if it continues, then the hardware is faulty and the computer needs to be repaired. As this is an older computer, service options with Hp are no longer available because the original manufacturers who supply the parts to HP don't do so anymore.
Please check with a local technician and get it repaired. It could be a faulty motherboard. I am being honest about it here by keeping your best interest in mind.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
