Blinking capslock and Black screen

Product: Compaq nx6325
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Hello, so I was using my HP nx6325 to play old games and to use older software and I went to install updates. After I installed the updates everything felt okay, so I went ro reset the laptop. After a quick reset the laptop wont boot and It just stayed at a black screen with a blinking capslock button and amber mute button. I feel its something to do with the motherboard or BIOS. (Corruption etc.) I have tried : reseating the ram, reseating the HDD and removing the battery, but there was no difference. Is there a way I can fix this. It is an old laptop but its lovely to use and I dont want it to die on me.

The bliking is continuous. No obvious pattern. It could be just 1 blink going really fast but I dont think thats the case.
