My HP Chromebook was working and turning on 2 days ago. Then I tried turning it on, but then the Chromebook wouldn’t turn on. Instead a White LED flashes. I’ve tried charging it and it still won’t turn on. I am really lost and don’t know how to get my Chromebook to turn on. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated.

Hi @Philip115,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Chromebook is not turning on and you're seeing a white LED flash, there could be several potential issues causing this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Power: Make sure your Chromebook is actually receiving power. Verify that the charger is connected correctly to both the Chromebook and the power outlet. You may want to try a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the outlet.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve power-related issues. To do this, unplug the charger, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, and then release it. Afterward, plug the charger back in and attempt to power on the Chromebook.
  • Check the Charging Cable: Ensure that the charging cable is not damaged or frayed. Try using a different compatible charger, if available, to see if the issue is with the charger itself.
  • Check for Indicator Lights: Pay attention to any indicator lights while attempting to turn on the Chromebook. If there are any flashing or colored LED patterns, consult your Chromebook's manual or HP's support resources to interpret what these patterns mean.
  • Battery Drain: If the battery is completely drained, it might take some time for the Chromebook to show any signs of life. Leave it plugged in for at least 30 minutes to see if it starts charging. Then, attempt to power it on again.
  • Perform a Hardware Reset: If the Chromebook is still unresponsive, you can try a hardware reset. This involves opening up the Chromebook and disconnecting the battery, which should be done with caution and may void your warranty.

Remember that Chromebooks are designed to be user-friendly and relatively trouble-free, so most issues are solvable with the above steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
