I just bought a new laptop and after it had just finished updating Windows 11, I shut it down and when I went to boot it back up today, I now have the BSOD saying "Boot Configuration Data file does not contain valid information for an operating system. File:BCD Error Code: 0xc0000098 You need to use recovery tools...etc
I have tried contacting support online but there is no help available at all today. I have tried to phone HP UK support but there they only work Monday to Friday. I am totally stuck here and need some help.
I went to Start-up Repair in the blue screen menu and then Clicked "Startup Repair" then went in to HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and did a System Test for a Boot Related issue and that Passed the Tests. I then tried to Roll back the Bios in Bios Management from F.12 to F.11 but when it went to reboot I just went back to the Blue Screen Page again.... RECOVERY Your device needs to be repaired. Back where I started...

@DigitalDJ1,
BCD is critical date that Windows Boot Manager uses to carry out the boot process. With corrupted BCD data Windows cannot be loaded successfully. BCD and Windows Boot Manager both reside in efi partition, which is separate from Windows partition.
Unfortunately, there's no easy quick way to fix efi-based boot problems. To fix efi boot issues, BCD has to be rebuilt via command prompt in Windows Recovery Environment (ER), and Win ER has to be launched from Windows11 installation USB disk, which can be created from the Microsoft link below.
Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)
Dell has a good knowledge base about how to repair an efi boot problem. See the link below. Upon creation of a Window 11 installation USB you can go to the "Windows11 - If you do have the Installation Media" section and follow the instructions to fix your 0xc98 BCD error.
Another way to bring your laptop back to a working state is to install Windows11. You can clean install Win11 via a Win11 installation USB disk that is mentioned earlier or install Win11 from HP Cloud Recovery tool shown below.

If you wish to repair the error via command prompt, there's a simpler way than the Dell's method so let me know.
