Do a hard reset and check again:

Try reseating hard drive, use this manual - page 43, for instructions to reach HDD bay:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05122688
Mostly hard drive is failing or has failed. You may have to replace it with a new one of similar form factor. Please contact HP in your region if you're within warranty, they would do it free of cost.
Do you have recovery USB created after first setup of this laptop?
Have you backed up data. If not, take out the HDD, connect it to another PC using SATA to USB adapter. Then use explorer to copy the files you need.

Here is the solution to your problem.
1. Goto bios setup by pressing F 10 while booting.
2.Goto System Configuration.
3.Under system configuration select Boot Options.
4.In boot options find Legacy Support.
5.Set legacy support to enabled.
6.Save the changes and exit.

Thanks much for your words of advise, I reseated the hard drive and no longer received the message. Hopefully, I no longer have the problem, however, I will have a recovery USB available, in case it fails in the future.
