Hi @Mzivy46,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Boot Device Not Found" error typically indicates a problem with your laptop's hard drive or SSD, which prevents the system from locating the device from which it should boot. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue. If you haven't tried this yet, go ahead and restart your laptop.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Access BIOS/UEFI: Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F10, F2, Esc, or Delete) during startup to enter BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Verify Boot Order: Make sure your hard drive or SSD is listed as the first boot device.
  • Check Hard Drive Status: Some BIOS/UEFI versions provide a diagnostic tool to check the health of your hard drive. Run this tool to see if it detects any issues.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools. You can usually access them by pressing F2 or Esc during startup and selecting "Diagnostics" from the menu.
  • Run a comprehensive test to check the health of your hard drive or SSD.

Check Connections:

  • If you're comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop and check if the hard drive or SSD is properly connected. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause this error.

Use Windows Recovery Options:

  • Create a Recovery USB: If you have access to another computer, you can create a Windows recovery USB drive using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website.
  • Boot from Recovery USB: Insert the USB drive into your laptop, restart, and boot from the USB drive. You can then use the recovery options to attempt to repair your system.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off the laptop, disconnect all external devices, and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reinsert the battery, reconnect any external devices, and power on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
