Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

Turned on and got “boot device not found” message. Searched forums and HP support pages and followed multiple recommendations including-

1) attempted hard reset by holding power button for 15 secs then turning on- did not work.

2) restore BIOS default settings from BIOS setup menu- did not work.

3) Attempted to test hard drive through system diagnostics menu. Do not have option for components test. Only options are- memory test, storage test, language, and exit. Ran memory test- passed. Attempted to run quick storage test and was immediately taken back to system diagnostics menu screen. Attempted to run extensive storage test and was again taken back to system diagnostics menu. Cannot find an answer online for why I cannot run storage test.

I cannot find any other forums or posts from this point to try fix the problem (aside from taking it in to a professional which doesn’t seem worth the cost). It’s only about 7 months old and has only been used for schoolwork.
