Hi @Sandan007,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's storage test is reporting "No hard drive installed," it suggests a few possible issues. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot.
Check Physical Connections:
- Power Off: Shut down your laptop completely and disconnect it from any power sources.
- Remove Battery: If possible, remove the battery.
- Open the Laptop: Depending on your model, you might need to remove the back panel. Check your laptop’s manual for instructions.
- Reseat the Hard Drive/SSD: Locate the hard drive or SSD and ensure it's properly connected. Re-seat the drive if necessary.
BIOS/UEFI Check:
- Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, Esc, or Del during startup).
- Check for Detection: Look under the storage or system information section to see if the hard drive/SSD is recognized.
- Restore Defaults: Sometimes, restoring BIOS settings to defaults can help recognize the drive.
Perform Hard Drive Diagnostics:
- HP Diagnostics: If your laptop has built-in HP diagnostics (like HP PC Hardware Diagnostics), run a more comprehensive test on the hard drive/SSD.
External Testing:
- If you have access to another computer, you can try connecting your hard drive/SSD externally using a SATA-to-USB adapter to see if it’s recognized.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
