After updating SSD firmware with sp136849.exe the system Black Screened upon hibernation. Now it fails to boot displaying “driver pnp watchdog 0x1D5”. The SSD is INTEL HBRPEKNX0203AH="Intel Optane Memory H10 1TB". I suspect the update corrupted the firmware and the boot system no longer recognizes the disc. Is there any way to salvage this, ie. force a proper update flash?

Hi @dggardner,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your system is experiencing a "driver pnp watchdog 0x1D5" error after updating SSD firmware using the sp136849.exe file. There are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue.

Restart Your Computer in Safe Mode:

  • Turn off your computer and turn it back on.
  • As your computer starts, repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears.
  • Select "Safe Mode" from the list to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services.

Rollback the Firmware Update:

  • If the error started occurring after updating your SSD firmware, consider rolling back to the previous firmware version if possible. This can often resolve issues caused by a new firmware update.

Check for Updates:

  • While in Safe Mode, connect to the internet and check for any available Windows updates. Install any critical updates that might address known issues with hardware compatibility.

Verify SSD Connections:

  • Ensure that the SSD is properly connected to your PC. Reseat cables if necessary, ensuring a secure connection.

Driver Updates or Rollbacks:

  • Access Device Manager and update drivers for your SSD, or rollback to a previous driver if a recent update is causing issues.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
