Hi @RonBarker,
Your ability to boot from a removable media (USB pendrive or CD, or DVD) is based on:
- correctly written bootable media - CD correctly written/burned
- correct BIOS settings
- correct actions
Here is what you need to edit in BIOS :
Go to "Advanced" tab -
uncheck Fast Boot
Enable/check CD-ROM Boot
Enable/check UEFI Boot Order
Enable/check Legacy Boot Order
Save the changes
Go to "Advanced" tab - Secure Boot Configuration
Make sure it is set as this: Legacy Support Enable and Secure Boot Disable
Save the changes
Unchecked "Reset secure boot keys to factory..."
Checked "Enable MS UEFI CA key"
Save the changes and Exit
If the above didn't help, ensure your Macrim disc is well written/prepared and the media is not scratched.Try with a different media (USB drive, new CD or DVD), etc.
Once prepared, insert the bootable media (like CD or DVD), press and hol the power-on button for 5-10 seconds until the PC powers off completely. Press and power-on button once and as soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu
- Choose F9 to open the boot menu
Choose manually the media you want to boot from.
