I want to boot a Linux distribution from an USB drive. I tried the steps listed for a consumer notebook computer at: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04784866 This procedure did not work. There is no Legacy Support option in the BIOS System Configuration window for this laptop. After following the steps anyway by disabling Secure Boot and restarting the computer, the only option to boot the computer available is the OS Boot Manager (UEFI). The option to use the USB drive is not available even though a working, bootable USB drive is inserted in the USB-C port. This same USB drive can be booted with a different HP Windows 10 UEFI laptop and the steps in the procedure match what I see in the BIOS on the second laptop. I have BIOS revision F.13.  Maybe the BIOS needs to be updated with this boot from USB option, I don't know.

Hi,

if you disable secure boot you can boot a usb stick (with linux) if this stick is compabile with uefi boot, for example a actual manjaro image. But without legacy support in the bios you cannot boot from a stick without uefi support.

What is strange is that in the Item Specific Help panel in the BIOS, Legacy Support is referenced as being an option.  However, there is no option to disable it in the BIOS.  Either the BIOS needs to be updated to support Legacy Support or the Specific Help in the BIOS needs to be corrected so as to not even mention Legacy Support. Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.  After creating an UEFI-compatible USB and booting from that USB, it worked.
