HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx Entertainment Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I tried updating from the 2x2GB my laptop came with to 2x4GB, but I get stuck in a boot loop. It shows Starting Windows but immediately restarts to the HP logo before the animation for the Windows logo can appear. I looked at other issues that were posted but none of the solutions helped me. My BIOS is at the latest version I can find (Insyde F27). The built in memory test returns "Pass" but I'll try Memtest later to see if that turns anything up, though I wanted to post this to see if there is anything else I can look at to fix the issue.

It is very difficult to find the right memory for notebooks with the Intel 1st generation core processors.

Since I don't know what memory you installed, I will provide some general information regarding the only memory that will work.

It must be DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600).  In other words, the commonly found DDR3-1600 memory will not work.

It must be 1.5V.

It must be 2Rx8 (8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board, not 4).
