HP Pavilion 16 inch Laptop PC 16-ag0000 (955U3AV)
Hi, I have a problem with my laptop. It's 3 months old and now it doesn't turn on anymore.
The last startup showed the message "The CMOS chesum is invalid..." and then it didn't boot anymore.
I need help I can't speak directly to HP support for assistance, the notebook is still under warranty.
Can anyone help me, thanks for your availability.

Hi @Ivano_C

Try following this method to reset the CMOS.

Reset the CMOS

In some cases, the automatic BIOS recovery fails because the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) data is corrupted. The CMOS stores BIOS settings. Use this procedure to reset the CMOS and recover the BIOS.

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Depending on your computer model, you can reset the CMOS using one of the following methods:

    1. Press and hold the power button for 25 seconds, and then turn on the computer.

Note: Use this method for G7 through G10 Business Notebook PCs and Mobile Workstation PCs, and the following G11 Business Notebook PCs: HP Pro x360 Fortis 11 inch G11 Notebook PC, HP ZBook Fury 16 G11 Mobile Workstation PC, HP ProBook 445 14 inch G11 Notebook PC, HP ProBook 465 16 inch G11 Notebook PC, HP EliteBook 645 14 inch G11 Notebook PC, and HP EliteBook 665 16 inch G11 Notebook PC.
    2. Press and hold the Windows + v keys, and then simultaneously press the power button.

Note: Use this method for all other G11 and later Business Notebook PCs and Mobile Workstation PCs.
Note: This key-press sequence must be performed using the main system keyboard and does not work if you use a peripheral keyboard.
    3. Press and hold the Windows + v keys, and then simultaneously press the power button for at least two seconds but no more than three seconds. Release the power button, but do not release the Windows key + v key press combination until the CMOS Reset screen is displayed and/or you hear beeping sounds.

Note: Use this method for Consumer Notebook PCs.
  3. After the completion of a successful CMOS reset, the unit restarts. As long as the system turns on, the CMOS reset was successful.

Note: If you see an error about an invalid checksum, the CMOS reset was not successful.
  4. Press enter to restart the computer.

Thanks for your help, but the boot issue is not resolved.
I tried all the methods you described but none solved the problem. I've noticed that in addition to the boot issue, the laptop tries to boot on power only, if I try to boot on battery it doesn't respond, as if the battery isn't installed. At this point I need a telephone contact for technical assistance in Italy.

You should first register your product; it will usually show you a contact number. You can also contact an authorized HP service center using the warranty.
